Grande Arche

For my 27th birthday I traveled to Paris in 2003. The woman I was dating at the time was teaching English in the city. I don’t remember doing much research about places I wanted to go or things I wanted to see. Thankfully, she was a stupendous tour guide and I was never bored. One of the places she took me (and that I gather isn’t super famous) is La Grande Arche. I remember seeing it for the first time and being completely disoriented by its size. It didn’t make sense. Seeing it projected onto this particular Baxter Montgomery painting captures my sense of unease in its presence.
