I was re-introduced to the idea of paint on canvas as an adult by my friend, the artist Carl Ortman. I have intentionally avoided learning anything about theory, craft, market, the art industry because of what those things have done for my original love of words–reading and writing. I’ve covered hundreds of canvases over the last few years in a search for self-taught technique and style. Some of these paintings, I believe, are part of the larger story I am telling through words in my novel, others, I believe, apply to what the immediate future holds for us all (2028).
