I’ve spent a lot of time going through the available Library of Congress public domain photos to find compelling images worth projecting. So much can be brought to life about the past if we remember that life wasn’t actually in black and white. There’s a whimsy and motion that comes with the color being injected into the painting.
The Grande Arche

This is a photo I took of the Grande Arche in Paris during February of 2003. The photo is being projected onto my original painting The Encroaching Maw. This was one of the first projections I did where I understood it was worth exploring this direction. The photograph was taken during a time and a trip that was confusing and full of energy for which there was no reliable or identifiable pursuit.
